Professor Jared Onyari joins the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies as a tenured Professor of Communication Management, bringing over 25 years of distinguished experience spanning conflict transformation, strategic leadership, and environmental advocacy.
Holder of a BA in Economics and Geography from Egerton University, an MBA from the University of Nairobi, and an MA in Development Studies from St. Paul’s University, Prof. Onyari holds a PhD from Kisii University specializing in Peace and Conflict Studies. His outstanding academic record demonstrates a profound commitment to using education and research to nurture sustainable development.
Formerly Secretary General of the Kenya Hotels and Allied Workers Union for six years, Prof. Onyari possesses rich professional experience addressing challenging labor relations issues and upholding occupational health through policy influence.
Recognized internationally, Prof. Onyari has been ordained Ambassador for Peace by the Universal Peace Federation and honored with ambassadorship by the World Film Institute and Olympia Arts for his body of work empowering conflict resolution.
At Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute, Prof. Onyari disseminates his wealth of knowledge on communication ethics, crisis management, strategic leadership principles, responsible advocacy, and leading organizational change initiatives targeting enhanced societal wellbeing.
