Dr. Nina L Meyerhof Leadership Award receipts

Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies (JAGILS) established a global leadership award named after Dr. Nina Meyerhof. This award was created to recognize most outstanding individuals who dedicated their lives to bringing positive social change and devoted their time to fight poverty, injustice and whose accomplishment are consistent with Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies goals. Dr. Samuel Jacobs-Abbey, the founder and Executive Director of the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies was identified and mentored by Dr. Nina Meyerhof. Dr. Meyerhof played a significant role in mentoring, encourage and grooming Dr. Samuel Jacobs-Abbey to become a globally respected leader in leadership and good governance.

Nina has made a life of advocating for children and youth as her vocation, she served as the Special Education Coordinator for a ten– school district in southern Vermont. Dr. Meyerhof has an extensive background in the needs of all children, with Master of Arts degrees in both Special Education and in Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Psychology. She also holds a doctorate in Educational Policy, Research, and Administration from the University of Massachusetts, where she developed a self-esteem model to be used in schools. Dr. Meyerhof Leadership Award is the one of the prestigious awards any receipt could receive from the Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies. The Award was created to recognized most outstanding individuals who has dedicated themselves to bringing positive social change with a devotion to fight poverty and injustice and whose accomplishments are consistent with Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies.

    Timothy Bowles African Human Rights Award Recipients

    The Timothy Bowles African Human Rights Award recognition is bestowed upon only the most distinguished individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in their career and exemplary leadership within their communities in promoting global Human Rights. This award was named after a California based Constitutional, and Civil Rights Lawyer Timothy Bowles who was a Jagils 2021 Lifetime achievement award recipient for his dedicated service to humanity. The Jagils Lifetime achievement award is presented to a leader who has demonstrated an unyielding commitment to civil rights and Human rights in recognition of their dedication to advancing justice, peace and freedom for workers and community members in their daily work. Their commitment to justice and peace must have brought about great change in society and their commitment to freedom exemplifies the vision needed to advance the rights for all people. Those who receive the lifetime achievement award exemplify the spirit of the mission and vision of Jacobs-Abbey Global Institute for Leadership Studies.

    Tim Bowles has practiced constitutional and civil rights law for over 40 years. A graduate of the University of California Berkeley (1971) and University of California Davis School of Law (1977), Tim started his career as attorney in 1978 for the newly formed Delphian Foundation, an educational organization headquartered in the northwestern United States. “Delphi” has since grown to establish ability-based schools and innovative K-12th grade curriculum distributed and utilized throughout the world.

    During the 1980s and 90s, Tim also helped establish several social service groups that continue to expand and bring improved conditions in important sectors, including Narconon International, a leading drug rehabilitation organization, and Applied Scholastics International, fighting illiteracy worldwide.

    After some three decades of work in the American courts, Tim returned to the developing world in 2005, this time to Ghana, West Africa as a volunteer for Youth for Human Rights International, an organization dedicated to teaching young people their human rights as embodied in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of the United Nations.
