Program Overview

Adv Diploma in Diplomacy & International Studies

The program aims to prepare students for a variety of roles, such as working within a Foreign Service or other government department; international civil service (such as the United Nations or European Union, African Union, ECOWAS); international NGOs (working in fields such as development, humanitarian assistance and conflict resolution); multinational corporations and international media. The programme also suits those engaged in or considering research roles within a policy think tank, risk analysis organization or doctoral programme and seeking to deepen their academic and practical understanding of international affairs and contemporary diplomatic practice.

The programme has a multi-disciplinary structure and draws on the teaching and research strengths of International Politics, Law, Economics and area studies (especially of Asia, Africa and the Middle East) as well as a wide range of languages. Students choose a combination of courses to meet their specific professional needs and personal interests.

Course Format

The programme will be delivered through lectures, group discussions, practical demonstrations, video presentations, practical and experiential exercises, case studies,and role-plays. Students will be assessed through written assignments, projects, oral presentations, and videotaped counselling project/examination and online formatting

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate core knowledge/skills in:

  • Excellent inter-disciplinary understanding of key concepts, theories and debates in the study of international affairs
  • Excellent knowledge of international policy debates and principle issues from perspectives of both the global North and South
  • Ability to undertake critical analysis of contemporary international policy issues and challenges
  • Development of course specific practical skills such as policy analysis and policy advocacy, negotiation, mediation, communication and media relations.

Tuition for Certificate Programs​

Tuition for certificate programs is $560. Tuition for the Diploma programs is $900 and Tuition for Adv. Diploma programs is $1350. A one-time, non-refundable, application fee of $50 – and a Technology fee of $100 – are also required.​

After paying the application fee of $50, students pay a deposit half payment upon acceptance or conditional acceptance to the program. Students then make monthly equal payments of the balance, which includes the technology fee of $100​

    • Essay questions, admissions and program-specific
    • Resume/curriculum vitae (CV)
    • Non-refundable $50 application fee
  • Submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities where you earned a degree or certificate.
  • Two letters of recommendation are required, from people who are in a position to evaluate your professional or academic work. The person making the recommendation may not be related to you.
  • Interview with a faculty member of the department to which you seek entry if selected. This can be in person, by phone, WhatsApp or via Skype.
  • Certificate Programs do not require the GRE or any other standardized test for admissions. We consider all of your application materials, and evaluate your academic potential in a variety of ways.
